LEARNING DIFFICULTIES
IEP (Individualized Education Plan): is a plan or programme designed for children with special education need to help them to get the most out of their education. An IEP builds on the curriculum that a child with learning difficulties or disabilities is following and sets out the strategies being used to meet that child's specific needs. Thus, the lesson plan is planned to suit the students need and at the same time goes hand in hand with the topics treated in the students’ actual class. Usually the students are taken out of the classroom to ESL room to be taught.
INCLUSIVE EDUCATION: Inclusive education happens when children with and without disabilities participate and learn together in the same classes. When a child with disabilities attends classes alongside peers who do not have disabilities, it produces positive outcome. Here, students that need support are not taken out of their classes. They are taught along with other students in the class while the support teachers sits with them to rein-enforce teaching by re- explaining the concepts taught by the teacher.
LANGUAGE: Direct Approach Method is used for students who can neither speak nor write in English Language. In this method, all teaching is done in the target language (English Language). At the beginning, grammar is taught inductively, there is a focus on speaking, listening, reading and only useful everyday language is taught. The materials and instructions are introduced orally with actions, pictures and videos.
ONLINE READING FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL: RAZKIDS has a varied array of testing strategies to assess students’ reading and comprehension level. RAZKIDS has questions for each comprehension read and this is marked online. The students area of weakness (skill) in comprehending the particular story read is shown in the questions missed.
